Who We Are

weFEEDsa is a non-profit organisation that was born out of necessity during South Africa’s 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. What began as a grassroots response by a group of volunteers—men, women, and children—quickly grew into a movement, united by the urgent need to feed vulnerable communities. At the height of the lockdown, weFEEDsa was providing up to 12,000 meals a day for 3 months to various lockdown sites in Kwazulu-Natal.

Since then, weFEEDsa has evolved into a collaborative force, working alongside NPOs, CBOs, government departments, and corporate partners to empower and uplift disadvantaged communities. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to addressing South Africa’s high unemployment rate by creating opportunities that restore dignity and self-reliance.

We are driven by the belief that no one should go to bed hungry—whether it’s hunger for food, education, opportunity, or a simple act of kindness.

What We Do

At weFEEDsa, our goal is to reduce dependency and foster self-sufficiency within communities by focusing on employment creation through education and empowerment. We approach these pillars in a broader, more inclusive way than the traditional model of primary and tertiary schooling alone.

In addition to formal education, we facilitate learning and development through sports programmes, SETA-accredited learnerships, and hands-on, work-based training initiatives. These practical and accessible interventions help individuals develop real-world skills that lead to sustainable growth—for themselves and their communities.

By prioritising education and empowerment, we’re not just alleviating immediate needs—we’re building pathways to long-term change.
